Repairs

When you move into your room, please check to see if there is a dial tone on your room phone. Then place a call to someone on campus (the person next door or the College Operator (x2222) to see if a conversation can be held).

If your phone is not working, try the following steps:

  1. Try your phone in your neighbor's telephone jack.
  2. Try your neighbor's phone in your telephone jack.
  3. If you determine that the problem is with your telephone equipment, bring it to the Telecom Office for an exchange. If you have a wall telephone, remove it from the wall by pushing up and pulling forward; if you have a desk telephone, unplug the cord from the jack and bring in the phone with both cords. We will repair or replace the phone and/or cords.
  4. If you determine that the problem is with the wall jack, please call the Telecom office and we will send someone to repair the jack. Make sure you have the phone plugged into a phone jack and not a computer jack.
  5. If the malfunction is due to abuse of any of the parts, or if any of the phone parts are missing, you will be charged for the replacement parts.
